More Light Presbyterians is pleased to announce that the Right Rev. V. Gene Robinson, the first openly gay bishop in the Episcopalian Church, will deliver the keynote address at the National More Light Presbyterians Celebration Dinner at the 220th General Assembly in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Bishop Robinson leads the Episcopal Diocese of New Hampshire. Since his consecration in 2003, he has become one of the most visible, eloquent and respected advocates for LGBT equality nationally and internationally. Robinson continues his advocacy despite intense opposition from extreme conservatives within the Anglican Communion because he is gay. Bishop Robinson is married to Mark Andrew. He has two grown daughters and two granddaughters.

His story and ministry are featured in “Love Free or Die,” a film by Macky Alston of Auburn Media. "Love Free or Die" won the Special Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival 2012 in Utah. We will offer a special premiere showing of "Love Free or Die" during the Assembly.

"We are grateful and excited that Bishop Gene Robinson will be coming to speak at the General Assembly. He embodies God's love and the Gospel that is good news for all persons. The 219th General Assembly's Ordination Amendment 10-A which was ratified on May 11, 2011, now G-2.0104 in our Book of Order, will be received by the 220th General Assembly in Pittsburgh. Dr. Michael Adee, Executive Director & Field Organizer, More Light Presbyterians said, "How wonderful it will be to have Bishop Robinson with us at this historic moment in the life, ministry and witness of the Presbyterian Church (USA) and the entire Christian communion."
